High West Cask Collection Oloroso Sherry is a limited-edition expression that showcases the rich, nutty influence of Oloroso Sherry casks on straight whiskey. Part of High West's innovative Cask Collection series, this release marries the bold character of American whiskey with the deep, oxidative complexity of Spanish Oloroso Sherry barrels.
After aging as traditional straight whiskey, this expression is transferred to carefully selected Oloroso Sherry casks for a finishing period. The sherry barrels impart rich notes of dried fruit, toasted nuts, dark chocolate, and wine complexity that beautifully complement the whiskey's natural caramel and spice character, resulting in a sophisticated, layered spirit with exceptional depth.
Tasting Notes:
- Aroma: Dried figs, toasted walnuts, and caramel with hints of dark chocolate, raisins, and oak
- Palate: Rich and complex with notes of sherry sweetness, dried fruit, nuts, toffee, baking spices, and charred oak
- Finish: Long and elegant with lingering sherry, dried fruit, nuts, and gentle spice
Perfect for whiskey enthusiasts who appreciate sherry cask finishes and complex, layered flavors. Enjoy neat to savor the Oloroso influence, or with a drop of water to unlock additional complexity. A standout limited release from High West's acclaimed Cask Collection.
