Argonne is the prestigious flagship cuvée from Henri Giraud, named after the historic forest that provides the oak for the estate's unique barrels. The 2017 vintage displays a deep, brilliant gold colour with an ultra-fine, creamy perlage. The nose is intense and multi-dimensional, offering a grand bouquet of honeyed orchard fruits, roasted hazelnuts, and ginger, layered with sophisticated notes of toasted brioche and white truffle. On the palate, the wine is powerful and vinous, showcasing a magnificent tension between its opulent, spicy texture and a vibrant, mineral-driven acidity. The integration of Argonne oak provides a noble structure and a hint of salinity, leading to an exceptionally long, resonant finish that reflects the pure energy of its Aÿ Grand Cru terroir. Food Pairing: Perfectly complements luxurious dishes such as lobster with butter sauce, pan-seared foie gras, slow-roasted veal, or aged 36-month Comté cheese.
98 Points - James Suckling
Aromas of dried roses, gunmetal and candle wax with cedar undertones. Full-bodied with layered, silky bubbles that are totally integrated but give direction to the wine. Hints of caramel and buttered hazelnuts to the dried oranges. Long and flavorful. Wild and rich yet fresh. Fermented 1.5 years in 100% new Argonne oak barrels. Disgorged February 2025. Drink or hold.
