Tasting notes: Floral, Tangerine, Honey, Black Tea
This washed Yirgacheffe comes from small coffee plots in Dumerso and nearby Chito, Ethiopia. Cherry collection is coordinated by Hirut ‘Betty’ Birhanu, Mahder and local suppliers, including members of the St George’s church community.
The lot information supplied through Swift Coffee Sourcing describes careful hand selection and a longstanding working relationship with the producers. Hirut and Mahder are also active in the wider Dumerso community, including support for a health clinic and daycare project.
The recorded varieties are 74110 and 74112, grown at 1,900–2,200 metres and prepared as a washed coffee. Hatch’s notes of florals, tangerine, honey and black tea suit its recommendation for filter brewing, with a light roast preserving the lot’s aromatic character.
