Tasting notes: Berries, plum, honey
Bahire is a washed Bourbon coffee grown by smallholder farmers in Ngozi, Burundi, at 1,800 metres. Sourced by Hatch with JNP Coffee, it pairs berry and plum flavours with honey sweetness. Suitable for filter brewing and modern espresso, this lot highlights the character of a distinct local micro-terroir.
JNP Coffee traced the lot after repeated strong cuppings from Ngozi led the importer to identify its particular hill of origin. The name Bahire means ‘be well’ in Kirundi. This is a washed Bourbon from smallholder growers at 1,800 metres, with Hatch recommending filter or modern espresso for its berry, plum and honey profile.
