Hartford Court Pinot Noir Russian River Valley originates from the United States, within the California region and the Russian River Valley subregion. Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1994 by Don and Jennifer Hartford, driven by an appreciation for the unique vineyards near their Sonoma County home. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes 'character through adversity,' focusing on small, low-yielding vineyards in difficult locations to produce expressive, high-personality wines.
Wine Description
This red wine typically displays a bright ruby to saturated ruby colour and possesses a medium to full body. The sensory profile is complex and layered, featuring an aromatic nose of black cherry, blueberry, and pomegranate, accented by notes of allspice, forest floor, and fresh wildflowers. On the palate, it delivers concentrated flavours of wild raspberries and dark berries supported by a crushed rock minerality and a juicy, velvety mouthfeel. The finish is long and flavorful, characterized by silky tannins and subtle earthy or spiced notes.
Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir.
Stylistic Notes: The wine is celebrated for its balance and varietal focus, utilizing artisan techniques such as hand-sorting, indigenous yeast fermentations, and aging in French oak barrels without fining or filtration.
ABV: Typically recorded at 14.5%.
Organic Status: While the estate emphasizes meticulous, hand-harvested vineyard management, this specific bottling is not generally specified as certified organic.
Food Pairing
The versatile acidity and nuanced fruit profile of this Pinot Noir make it an ideal companion for a wide range of savoury dishes.
Meats: Pairs excellently with grilled steak, roasted chicken, and barbecue pork ribs.
Seafood: Suggested pairings include meaty grilled salmon, tuna steak, or salmon teriyaki.
Savoury: Matches well with mushroom risotto, grilled polenta with mushrooms, and pepperoni pizza.
Cheese: Complements Brie, Gouda, and Manchego cheeses.
