Drink like an Italian grandpa with this set of bittersweet gems. Representing the gold standards across disparate styles of traditional amaro, it includes everything you need to set up shop outside your front door after dinner in your undershirt and work pants, just like your nonnino.
The vegetal artichoke based classic, Cynar showcases mint and eucalyptus followed by bitter molasses. A great combination follows - liquorice, vanilla, cloves, green herbs (think nettle, tarragon) and bitter radicchio. The finish is long, warming, bitter, and herbal. (1 L)
Zucca Rabarbaro, named after the Zucca bar (now the Camparino) in Milan, is a rhubarb based classic, combined with zest, cardamom seeds and other curative herbs. The taste is delicate and bittersweet, with a most welcome tang from the rhubarb. (750 ml)
Vecchio del Capo is a mix of twenty-nine herbs, flowers, fruits and roots from Calabria, blended to provide an intense experience of pleasure: the bittersweet taste of oranges, the delicacy of orange blossom and chamomile, the intensity of licorice, peppermint and aniseed. (750 ml)
