Gordon & MacPhail Discovery
Gordon & MacPhail, founded in Elgin in 1895, buys and matures casks and bottles them under its own labels. Its Discovery range groups whiskies by flavour: sherry, smoky or bourbon. This is an independent bottling, not a Glenrothes distillery release.
The whisky
This Glenrothes has been matured for 11 years in sherry casks, which build orange, spice, stewed fruit and chocolate on the distillery's rich Speyside spirit. It is bottled at 43% ABV as a consistent range whisky rather than a single cask.
How to enjoy it
Enjoy it neat or with a small splash of water. The orange and chocolate notes make it a good partner for dark chocolate, orange cake or a cheese board.
