Glenfarclas 10 Year Old is the accessible entry point into one of the most respected and fiercely independent family-owned distilleries in all of Scotland — and a whisky that delivers a level of sherry-influenced richness and character that few distilleries can match at this age and price. Founded in 1836 on the slopes of Ben Rinnes in Speyside, Glenfarclas has been owned and operated by the Grant family since 1865 — six generations of unbroken family stewardship that has allowed the distillery to maintain its traditional values, its commitment to sherry cask maturation, and its refusal to compromise on quality in the face of commercial pressure.
Unlike many of its Speyside neighbors, Glenfarclas matures all of its whisky exclusively in oloroso sherry casks — a commitment that gives every expression in the range a distinctive richness, warmth, and fruit-forward character that is immediately recognizable. The 10 Year Old is no exception: matured for a full decade in first-fill and refill oloroso sherry casks, it delivers a whisky of genuine depth and character that punches well above its age and price point.
The nose is warm and inviting — sherry-sweet dried fruit, vanilla, and a gentle malt sweetness open up to reveal notes of cinnamon, toasted oak, and a soft floral quality. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and beautifully rounded: toffee, raisins, soft malt, and a warming spice build with a satisfying richness and a gentle sherry sweetness that makes it exceptionally easy to enjoy. The finish is clean, medium-length, and gently warming — dried fruit, soft oak, and a lingering sherry warmth fading gracefully.
