Glen Grant
Glen Grant was founded in Rothes in 1840. Its tall, slender stills and purifiers produce a light, fruity spirit, and the 15 Year Old was created by Master Distiller Dennis Malcolm.
The whisky
Unlike the 12, the 15 is matured only in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and bottled at a higher batch strength of 50% ABV. The bourbon oak brings vanilla and honey to Glen Grant's orchard fruit.
How to enjoy it
Taste it neat, then add water a little at a time: at 50% it opens noticeably, bringing out the melon and apricot.
Frequently asked
What does Batch Strength mean here?
It is bottled at 50% ABV, higher than Glen Grant's standard 40 to 43%, giving more intensity and a fuller texture.
How is it different from Glen Grant 12?
The 12 combines ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks at a lower strength. The 15 uses only first-fill ex-bourbon casks and is bottled at 50%, so it is brighter and more intense.
