Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXIV is a 12 year old rum from Barbados. It was distilled in 2011 at the Foursquare Distillery. It is a single blended rum, made from pot still and column still spirit. It aged in ex-bourbon barrels and was bottled at full strength, 60% ABV.
Bright citrus peel opens the nose, with grapefruit and orange over caramel and cocoa. Fresh ginger and dried coconut sit in there too. On the palate, molasses and treacle sweetness meet dried berries and ripe fruit. The finish is long and dry, with peppery spice that lingers. Blueberry and black cherry show up at the very end.
Nothing is added here. There's no sugar, no coloring and no chill filtration. What you taste is the rum as it came out of the cask.
At this strength, take it slow. Add a few drops of water and give it a minute in the glass. Dark chocolate or pecan pie make good partners. Find more bottles like this in our aged rum collection.
