Foundation Cigar Company’s rise to the top of the cigar world is a result of founder Nicholas Melillo’s knack for developing bold yet smooth blends that showcase the best tobaccos from around the world, with an extra special focus on the best leaves Connecticut River Valley offers. The Aksum Claro Toro is no different, delivering a deeply rich and flavorful smoke that is at once smooth, balanced, and sophisticated.
The Aksum Claro Toro shows off a deliciously textured Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper leaf that tops a mixture of Nicaraguan Esteli and Jalapa filler tobacco. And yes, Melillo’s trademark addition of a Connecticut is there too, completing the 6” x 52 stick with a luxurious Connecticut Broadleaf binder.
The Aksum Claro Toro is a savory adventure with creamy and earthy notes laying the groundwork for a smooth, medium-to-full-bodied smoke. Thick coffee, red and black pepper, wood, and baking spice notes are also present throughout the velvety delicious journey. Tantalizing splashes of coconut round out the 90-rated smoke.
Inspired by tales of the Ark of the Covenant, the Ancient Aksumite Kingdom, and its descendants in present-day Ethiopia, the Aksum Claro series checks off all the boxes for what makes a grandly entertaining, worthwhile experience. It also doesn’t hurt that these jewels are handmade at the famous Tabacalera AJ Fernandez factory in Nicaragua! So, enjoy these legends with your favorite libations and embark on a timeless adventure like no other.
