Foundation Cigar’s Aksum series is yet another blockbuster line inspired by the tales of King Solomon, the Ark of the Covenant, Menelik I, and more. It was Menelik, legend tells us, who brought the Ark to the ancient Aksumite Kingdom in Ethiopia, where many believe the Ark still resides today. The Aksum series celebrates this legacy with a supple blend of top-tier tobaccos that will excite even the most demanding of palates.
Handcrafted at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez, the Aksum Claro Corona Gorda is a delectable 5 ½” x 48 box-pressed treat dressed up in a gorgeous Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper leaf. The binder shrouded beneath is a Foundation’s Nicholas Melillo’s specialty, Connecticut Broadleaf. Rounding out the luxurious blend is a mixture of Nicaraguan Esteli and Jalapa filler tobaccos.
The Aksum Claro Corona Gorda delivers an inspiring medium-to-full-bodied adventure highlighted by a bevy of familiar flavors mixed with the exotic. A firm earthiness runs throughout the smoke, providing a link to prominent coffee, peppercorn, and wood flavors. Sweet hints of Eastern spices and tropical coconut enhance the lively yet balanced journey, with a pleasing creaminess tying it all up with a bow.
Aksum Claro cigars are fitting tributes to the descendants of the Aksum people who serve as caretakers of the Ark of the Covenant’s legacy. Rich yet deliciously smooth, the Aksum Claro Corona Gorda is a great way to accompany morning coffee or evening whiskey and anything in between.
