Introduction
Project 9 Pils is brewed by Fernie Brewing Company, located in Fernie, British Columbia, Canada. The brewery was started by a local family in 2003 under their garage roof before moving to a dedicated facility in 2007. This multi-award-winning flagship brew is named after one of Fernie's most famous mountain bike trails.
Beer Description
This true Bavarian pilsner is clean and crisp, presenting a transcendent quality achieved through time-honoured brewing methods. The sensory profile is defined by an exceptional continental hop flavour and aroma derived from fine noble hops, including the Saaz variety. On the palate, it offers a smooth and refreshing experience with a balanced hop character. The body is supported by a grain bill of Munich, Pilsner, and pale western Canadian malts. This beer has an ABV of 5% and a bitterness of 35 IBU. There is no information to suggest that this beer is organic.
Food Pairing
The crisp nature and noble hop profile of this pilsner make it a versatile companion for various meals. It pairs exceptionally well with classic pub fare such as chicken wings or a hearty burger, where the carbonation cleanses the palate. Its refreshing quality also complements lighter summer salads and a selection of mild cheeses. Additionally, the balanced bitterness of the Saaz hops makes it a suitable partner for spicy foods, helping to temper the heat.
