From Central Otago, New Zealand, Felton Road has established itself as a benchmark producer of Pinot Noir, with a reputation for purity, balance, and site expression. The winery farms organically and biodynamically, with full BioGro and Demeter certification, and vinifies with minimal intervention. The Calvert Vineyard, situated in Bannockburn, is celebrated for producing wines of refinement and elegance, expressing the deep schist soils and distinctive microclimate of the site.
Wine Description
The Calvert Pinot Noir displays a deep ruby colour with lifted aromatics of rose petal, violet, and spice, layered with red and dark berry fruit. The palate is finely textured, showing a core of sweet cherry fruit, subtle earthiness, and savoury notes of forest floor and spice. Silky tannins and bright acidity frame the wine, giving it poise and length. The style is elegant, floral, and mineral-driven, with a long, harmonious finish. Crafted with indigenous yeasts, gentle handling, and ageing in French oak, the wine is unfined and unfiltered, preserving its natural character and complexity.
Food Pairing
The graceful yet structured style of Calvert makes it a versatile partner for duck breast, venison, lamb with rosemary, or wild mushroom risotto. Its floral aromatics and fine tannins also shine alongside truffle dishes or soft cheeses.
