From New Zealand’s South Island, this wine hails from Central Otago, specifically the Bannockburn subregion. Felton Road, established in 1991 and owned by Nigel Greening, has become a benchmark producer for biodynamic viticulture in the region. The estate is renowned for its meticulous single-block expressions, with Block 5 considered one of its most iconic parcels.
Wine Description
The Block 5 Pinot Noir displays a deep ruby hue with a vivid core. Aromas unfold in layers of black cherry, dark florals, cassis, and wild herbs, framed by savoury spice and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, the wine shows a finely woven texture, balancing ripe fruit intensity with elegant tannins and bright acidity. Medium to full-bodied, it offers depth and complexity, leading to a long, refined finish.
Food Pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with duck confit, roasted venison, or mushroom risotto. Its savoury undertones also complement herb-crusted lamb or truffle-infused dishes.
