Fabio Motta founded the winery in 2009 with the acquisition of 4 hectares of vines planted in 1997 within the Bolgheri DOC. Lo Scudiere is 100% Sangiovese selected from the Pieve vineyard, fermented in concrete and aged in 30hl conical oak for one year, with a small percent in used barriques. The vineyards are Biodynamically farmed, and in the cellar the approach uses only indigenous yeast with no fining or filtering. With this wine, Fabio Motta pays tribute to his father-in-law, Michele Satta, one of the pioneers of Sangiovese in the Bolgheri DOC.
