The Esteban Carreras Soga de Oro Maduro Toro is a distinctive boutique cigar that combines traditional craftsmanship with bold Nicaraguan character. Measuring approximately 5 3/4 x 54, this Toro vitola offers a balanced format that allows the blend to evolve steadily throughout the smoking experience.
Visually, the cigar stands out immediately thanks to its signature “rope of gold” presentation—an actual twist of tobacco wrapped around the body in place of a conventional band, reflecting old-world rolling techniques. Beneath this unique aesthetic lies a carefully constructed blend featuring a dark, oily Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper, a Nicaraguan Condega binder, and premium Nicaraguan fillers from regions such as Estelí and Jalapa.
Upon lighting, the profile opens with rich notes of earth, dark cocoa, and charred wood, complemented by a noticeable peppery spice. As the cigar develops, flavours deepen into espresso, leather, and roasted coffee, while a subtle natural sweetness rounds out the experience. The strength sits comfortably in the medium-to-full range, offering intensity without overwhelming the palate.
Aged extensively—both the wrapper and the finished cigars receive additional maturation—this Toro delivers a smooth, refined smoke with excellent balance and complexity. Limited production and meticulous craftsmanship further enhance its appeal, making it a compelling choice for enthusiasts seeking a rich, full-flavoured maduro with a unique presentation. Size: Toro 5 ¾ x 54 box pressed. Note: these are now shipping in plain packaging with authentic bands underneath.
