El Goru Mad Hairy Fella Monastrell 2023 75cl
This bold Spanish red comes from Ego Bodegas in Jumilla, a warm south-eastern region known for powerful Mediterranean wines. Old Monastrell vines thrive in the area’s dry climate and chalky soils, producing concentrated fruit with natural freshness and structure. The winery combines modern winemaking with traditional regional varieties to create expressive, approachable wines.
Monastrell is blended with Syrah and Petit Verdot before ageing briefly in American oak barrels. Careful temperature-controlled fermentation preserves ripe fruit while the oak adds spice and smoothness.
- The nose shows blackberry, blueberry and ripe plum with hints of vanilla and sweet spice.
- The palate delivers dark berry fruit, cocoa and black pepper balanced by soft tannins and smoky oak.
- The finish is rich and warming with lingering vanilla, liquorice and charred spice notes.
Pair with smoky barbecue dishes, slow-cooked beef or mature cheeses to complement the wine’s richness and spice.
