Edradour 22 Year Old Amarone Cask Matured is a limited Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky released in 2025 to celebrate Edradour Distillery’s 200th anniversary (1825–2025). Distilled on 28 January 2003, the whisky spent 22 years maturing in first-fill Amarone wine hogsheads #1001–1005 before being bottled at its natural 50.8% ABV cask strength. Only 1,510 bottles were produced. The long Amarone maturation creates a rich, wine-driven expression with dark berries, cherries, chocolate, nuts, leather and warming spice.
Food Pairing: Roast duck, braised beef, mature cheese, dark chocolate, toasted almonds or black-cherry tart.
Tasting Notes: Rich and velvety with dark red fruit, chocolate and nutty sweetness complemented by espresso, leather, warming spice and mature wine-cask character.
Nose: Red berries and dark cherries with sugared walnuts, leather and soft chocolate notes.
Palate: Jammy berries and dark fruit with espresso, chocolate and gradually developing warming spice.
Finish: Long and warming with lingering dark fruit, oak spice and a gently drying wine character.
Serve: Enjoy neat after allowing it to rest in the glass. At 50.8% ABV, a few drops of water can help reveal additional fruit, chocolate and spice.
