This red wine is a contemporary expression from the historic Maison Edouard Delaunay, a Burgundy house established in 1893 and revitalized in 2017 by Laurent Delaunay. The "Septembre" designation is a tribute to the most pivotal month in the vineyard, honoring the harvest and the winemaking process. This cuvée is designed to be a quintessential, accessible entry into the house's style, blending fruit from several distinct sub-regions to achieve a balance of finesse and fruitiness.
Wine Description
The Edouard Delaunay "Septembre" Bourgogne Pinot Noir is characterized by its elegance, purity, and authentic Burgundian personality.
Appearance: A superb, deep cherry red color.
Nose: Delicate and multifaceted, it opens with aromas of ripe cherry, Damson plum, and rhubarb, accented by floral hints of violet and lilac. Subtle notes of pine sap, toasted almonds, and freshly baked bread add a sophisticated complexity.
Palate: Remarkable for its breadth and freshness, the palate features flavors of raspberry and sour cherry. It is medium-bodied with a healthy backbone of fine-grained, pleasantly grippy tannins and a zesty acidity. The finish is surprisingly long and elegant, showing savory, earthy, and mineral undertones.
Food Pairing
Its vibrant acidity and sleek profile make it a versatile food wine. It is a classic partner for roasted chicken (specifically "Poulet à la Comtoise"), grilled pork chops, or lamb stew. It also pairs beautifully with earthy vegetarian dishes like mushroom risotto or gnocchi with truffles. For a more casual pairing, it works well with a selection of charcuterie and mild soft cheeses.
