Eagle Rare 12 Year is a beautifully matured Kentucky straight bourbon with an extra layer of complexity and depth. It takes everything people love about Eagle Rare and elevates it—richer oak, darker fruit, longer finish—all while maintaining smooth drinkability and harmony. A rare, age-stated bourbon that feels both luxurious and soulful.
🥃 Profile & Distillation
-
From Buffalo Trace Distillery, using the low-rye mash bill #1.
-
Aged 12 years, often in the same warehouse conditions as other top-tier releases like George T. Stagg.
-
Typically bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV), offering elegance over brute strength.
👃 Nose
Enticing aromas of caramel, dried cherry, and vanilla, layered with leather, antique oak, and a whiff of baking spice. The extra age shows itself in the depth and warmth of the nose.
👅 Palate
Silky and well-rounded, with rich notes of toffee, dark stone fruit, cinnamon, toasted almonds, and light tobacco. There's a lovely balance between sweet corn richness and seasoned oak, giving it sophistication without over-oaking.
🔁 Finish
The finish is long and contemplative—featuring charred oak, leather, vanilla bean, and a gentle spice lift that fades slowly. Warm, comforting, and seamless.
🌟 Why It’s Coveted
-
Extra age adds richness without bitterness.
-
Rare and limited, often reserved for private barrels or exclusive batches.
-
Shares DNA with some of the most admired bourbons in Buffalo Trace’s portfolio.
🏆 In Summary
Eagle Rare 12 Year is a quietly majestic bourbon: not flashy, but deeply satisfying. It’s a bottle that bourbon lovers savor slowly, often compare to much higher-priced expressions, and reach for when only something truly refined will do. A unicorn for collectors—and a true joy to drink.
