This structured and elegant red wine originates from the United States, specifically from the premier Napa Valley region in California. Founded in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn, Duckhorn Vineyards is an iconic Napa institution that originally gained fame for its pioneering work with Merlot before becoming equally renowned for its classic, balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaking philosophy, led by winemaker Renée Ary, focuses on site-specific expression, blending fruit from both estate vineyards and independent growers to capture the "soul" of the valley floor and mountain fruit.
Wine Description
Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon presents a deep ruby colour with a complex sensory profile. The nose is aromatic and expressive, featuring notes of dark red berries, boysenberry pie, and cardamom, alongside hints of blueberry, blackcurrant, and graphite. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and polished, showcasing a "seamless blend of elegance and strength" with flavours of fig jam, boysenberry, and cocoa. It is characterized by its dusty, firm tannins and dynamic acidity, leading to a long, focused finish.
