Drew Estate’s Undercrown series quickly emerged as a favorite choice for cigar lovers searching for refreshingly unique flavor, texture, and complexity. The Drew Estate team, headed by blending superstar Willy Herrera, set about extending Undercrown’s innovative reputation into the realm of Connecticut-wrapped cigars. The result is the exquisitely smooth and richly entertaining Undercrown Shade.
The Drew Estate Undercrown Shade Robusto is a stellar option using Dominican Criollo ’98, Nicaraguan Corojo and Criollo filler tobaccos, an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder leaf, and a gorgeous Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper. These tobaccos combine to create a silky yet deeply rich and satisfying 5” x 54 Robusto-size classic.
As the Undercrown Shade Robusto eases into action, the palate is treated to an exercise in pure luxury. White pepper, earth, and spice provide a sturdy backbone while hints of creamy caramel and baking spice continuously evolve the medium-bodied smoke. A pleasingly sweet tartness enhances the smoke, concluding with a smooth, toasty finale.
Drew Estate’s Undercrown Shade Robusto delivers an elegantly presented, rich, tasty smoke that continues to alter perceptions of a Connecticut-wrapped cigar’s possibilities. Enjoy this hour-long smoke in the morning, afternoon, or night with beverages ranging from coffee and tea to rum, gin, or ale.
