The Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve is a creative collaboration between the legendary bourbon brand and the artisans at Drew Estate. Crafted in Nicaragua, this cigar uses a unique dual approach, with a Kentucky fire-cured leaf further down the barrel covering an Indonesian strain. This two-tone approach sits atop an Indonesian binder and fillers that contain Nicaraguan crops, as well as Kentucky fire-cured tobaccos that have been aged in barrels that previously held Pappy Van Winkle bourbon. To achieve this process, Drew Estate sent this smoky Kentucky tobacco down to Louisiana, where it underwent a "perique fermentation process," where heavy pressure is applied to the tobacco leaves within the bourbon barrels, a method that is only practiced in the Saint James Parish.
The result is a smoky, smooth, medium-bodied cigar with notes of oak, cocoa, roasted nuts, and a subtle sweetness, all complemented by hints of bourbon barrel character. Balanced and refined, this blend offers a flavorful and sophisticated experience perfect for both bourbon lovers and cigar enthusiasts.
