Introduction
Dr Zenzen Dornfelder Red is a non alcoholic wine that comes from Germany. The house of Dr Zenzen has a long family history as wine growers dating back to 1636, representing more than 380 years of tradition in the Mosel wine region.
Spirit Description
This non alcoholic red wine presents a deep cherry hue with subtle violet tones. The aroma features an expressive bouquet of fresh pomegranate, red currants, and ripe cassis. On the palate, it is smooth and balanced, offering harmonic flavours of cherries and berries with a touch of vanilla and mild tannins. The body is beautifully light yet well rounded, leading to a velvety finish. It contains 0.0% alcohol by volume.
Food Pairing
The rich character and fruity notes of this Dornfelder make it a suitable partner for heartier dishes. It pairs exceptionally well with all types of game, dark meats, and pasta served with red sauces. For those with a sweet tooth, it is an ideal accompaniment to dark chocolate or chocolate cheesecake. It also complements savoury snacks such as cheese and biscuits.
Distinctive Features
This wine is produced from the Dornfelder grape, a variety often referred to as the 'Shooting Star' among German red wine grapes for its rapid rise in popularity. The wine is crafted using a gentle de alcoholization process to preserve the richness and complexity of the fruit. It is a mindful choice for health conscious consumers, as it is gluten free and contains only one third of the calories typically found in alcoholic wines.
Serving Suggestions
To enjoy the full sensory profile of the cherries and berries, this red wine is best served slightly chilled. It is bottled with a Stelvin closure to maintain its freshness and vibrant fruit character. This alcohol free alternative is perfect for occasions where you want the full bodied flavour of a German red wine without the alcohol.
