This white wine originates from Germany, specifically from the steep slopes of the Middle Mosel subregion in the Mosel valley. The Loosen family has been cultivating Riesling for over 200 years, with current owner Ernst 'Erni' Loosen taking over the estate in 1988. Under his leadership, the winery has gained an international reputation for high-quality production, following a philosophy that balances dry paternal traditions with the sweet Prädikat styles of the maternal family line. This 'Dr. L' Dry Riesling serves as a regional ambassador, produced from grapes grown in traditional slate-soil vineyards by contracted growers who adhere to the estate's strict quality standards.
Wine Description
Dr. Loosen Dry Riesling displays a bright, pure, and luminous gold colour. The nose is aromatic and expressive, offering scents of citrus, white flowers, and honeysuckle layered with notes of peach, green apple, and melon. On the palate, the wine is light to medium-bodied and refreshing, featuring zesty flavours of pink grapefruit, apricot, and lime juice supported by a crisp, 'electric' acidity. It is characterized by its elegant and racy structure, delivering a vibrant mouthfeel with a fine mineral edge and a clean, steely finish. This 100% Riesling typically has an ABV of 12.0% and is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve its primary fruit character. While the winery employs sustainable viticulture according to strict environmental regulations, this specific bottling is not certified organic. The optimal drinking window is from release through the next three to five years.
