Introduction
Dos Equis originates from Mexico and is brewed by the Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery, which is based in Monterrey, Mexico. This company is a subsidiary of the Dutch brewing giant Heineken International. While several other international brands are brewed under license in Canada by companies like Sleeman, Dos Equis is imported directly from Mexico for the Canadian market.
Beer Description
This traditional Mexican style lager is typically pale golden in colour and offers a crisp, refreshing sensory profile. The aroma features a subtle blend of malt and earth tones, while the palate delivers a clean, well balanced taste with a hint of biscuit like malt sweetness. It is characterized by a light body and a smooth, easy drinking finish with low bitterness, indicated by a 10 IBU rating. The varietal composition includes a blend of water, malted barley, hops, and adjuncts. It has an ABV of 4.5%. There is no information to suggest that this beer is organic.
Food Pairing
The light and crisp profile of this lager makes it an ideal partner for fresh and spicy flavours. It pairs exceptionally well with Mexican street food, such as shrimp tacos with lime or chicken fajitas, as the clean finish cuts through the richness of grilled meats. Its subtle malt sweetness also complements spicy Asian dishes and light seafood like ceviche. For casual snacks, it can be served alongside garden salads with citrus vinaigrettes or classic salty appetizers.
