Owned and operated by Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage, Domaine Lafage is a family-run estate located near Perpignan in the heart of Roussillon. With vineyards stretching from the Mediterranean coast to the foothills of the Pyrenees, the estate is known for crafting expressive wines that reflect its diverse terroir. The Bastide Miraflors cuvée showcases the estate’s commitment to combining old-vine heritage with modern precision.
Wine Description
The nose reveals intense aromas of blackberries, ripe plums, violets, and crushed peppercorns, with underlying notes of smoked meat and garrigue herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, offering layers of dark fruit, licorice, and a subtle hint of oak spice from partial aging in 600-litre French oak demi-muids. The tannins are smooth and well-integrated, leading to a long, savoury finish with mineral tension and finesse.
Food Pairing
Ideal with braised beef short ribs, grilled lamb chops, or wild mushroom risotto. Its rich fruit and savoury depth also complement aged cheeses and roasted root vegetables.
