The Domaine Dugat-Py Auxey-Duresses 'Sur Melin' Rouge 2023 is an elegant, sophisticated, and deeply complex Old World red wine that serves as an exciting new addition to the estate's legendary portfolio. Sourced from the cool, side-valley slopes overlooking the hamlet of Melin in the Côte de Beaune, it pours a beautifully intense ruby red colour that will gracefully take on brick-like tones as it matures. The nose opens with a well-balanced, remarkably pure bouquet of rich black fruits, such as blackberry and blackcurrant, seamlessly layered with subtle, complex undertones of peony petals, damp forest floor, and a dusting of white pepper. On the palate, this medium-bodied Pinot Noir is incredibly refined, meaty, and concentrated yet retains a striking sense of fresh energy. Emphasizing the producer's signature old-vine depth and biological, minimal-intervention philosophy, it delivers a supple attack filled with savory spice, fine leather, and a distinct mineral intensity. It features velvety, fine-grained tannins and a crisp structure that carry into a long, persistent finish marked by impressive aromatic clarity.
Food Pairing: The velvety tannins and vibrant fruit profile pair beautifully with delicate red meats, roasted veal chops, rabbit à la forestière, grilled poultry, charcuterie boards, and aged artisanal French cheeses such as Comté or Camembert.
