The Diesel Whiskey Row Sherry Cask Toro represents one of A.J. Fernandez's most imaginative collaborations, combining world-class Nicaraguan cigar making with the barrel-aging expertise of Rabbit Hole Distillery. Rather than flavoring the tobacco, the blend relies on a Brazilian Arapiraca binder aged in barrels that previously held Rabbit Hole PX Sherry Finish Bourbon, allowing the tobacco to absorb subtle characteristics from the wood while preserving its natural integrity. Wrapped in a dark Connecticut Broadleaf and filled with hearty Nicaraguan tobaccos, the Toro showcases the blend with exceptional balance and refinement.
The Toro's classic dimensions give the blend room to develop with effortless composure. The Broadleaf wrapper delivers richness and texture, while the barrel-aged binder gradually introduces hints of dark fruit, cocoa, cedar, and warming spice that complement—not compete with—the cigar's natural character. Every transition feels measured and intentional, highlighting A.J. Fernandez's ability to integrate an unconventional aging technique into a cigar that still speaks first and foremost through its tobacco.
The Diesel Whiskey Row Sherry Cask Toro is more than a whiskey-inspired cigar; it is an exploration of how careful barrel aging can add another dimension to premium tobacco. Rich, layered, and impeccably balanced, it belongs in the humidor of smokers who appreciate innovation grounded in traditional cigar making rather than novelty.
