Double-Aged for Exceptional Smoothness
Dewar's 12 Year Old The Ancestor is the expression that put double-aging on the map. While most blended Scotches are married and bottled, Dewar's takes an extra step — after blending their aged single malts and grain whiskies, the liquid is returned to oak casks for an additional period of maturation. This proprietary "double-aging" process allows the component whiskies to fully integrate, softening any rough edges and creating a blend of remarkable harmony and depth. The result is a whisky that punches well above its price point — smooth, complex, and endlessly sippable.
- Nose: Elegant and inviting — fresh honey, vanilla, and ripe orchard fruit with a gentle hint of toasted oak and a subtle floral lift
- Palate: Smooth and well-rounded — creamy toffee, dried apricot, and a touch of warming spice with a silky mouthfeel that speaks to the double-aging process
- Finish: Medium-long and clean with lingering honey, vanilla, and a gentle oak warmth
- Distillery: Dewar's, Aberfeldy, Scotland
- Style: Double-Aged Blended Scotch Whisky
- Age: 12 Years
- ABV: 40% / Proof: 80
- Size: 750 mL
