We have been listening to customer feedback during the beta as well as the v1.0 release of Half Decent Scale. So v1.1 brings substantial improvements on all fronts.
Here's what's new in Half Decent Scale v1.1
- A new design of the outer shell
- New charging cable connector
- Improved circuit board design
- New laser etching
1. A new design of the outer shell
The outer shell of the Half Decent Scale has been redesigned to address several teething issues that were reported by users of both, the beta and v1.0.
- Not only does Half Decent Scale now come in a bright metal polish (bye bye, you sad black),
- it's now less susceptible to water damage,
- has better wireless connectivity,
- and as an added bonus, there's less weighing interference while HDS is plugged in.1
- countersunk USBC connector, to use less space:

2. Redesigned charging connector

Previous USB charging connector was causing measuring irregularities when plugged in. It was also a potential culprit for water damage.
- New magnetic connector adapter can now be attached to HDS for charging.
- A rubber gasket has been added, to protect the USB port when not in use.
- New redesigned charging cable that comes with a magnetic connector.
NOTE: The new magnetic cable is too large for Euan Lake's custom drip tray and you should buy the flexible USBC cable sold on our website for this purpose.
3. Improved circuit board design
Some issues with the circuit board were addressed and resolved in v1.1 as well. Among other things, HDS sometimes didn't properly sense battery capacity, and it didn't properly announce itself over USB.
- Half Decent Scale now presents itself as “Half Decent Scale” when connected over USB.
- It has improved battery capacity sensing.
- Furthermore, weight stability and measurement accuracy were improved.
- Last but not least, a temperature sensor for measuring ambient temperature was added.
4. New laser etching
A new laser etching on the scale now helps quickly identify your HDS version.
1.
Use of high quality USB Charger is recommended for minimising weighing interference when HDS is being used while connected to a charger.
