Produced by Argiolas, Sardinia’s most renowned family-owned winery, Costera is a benchmark expression of Cannonau, the island’s flagship red grape. Founded in 1938 near Cagliari, Argiolas has played a leading role in elevating Sardinian wines on the international stage, combining traditional grape varieties with modern winemaking techniques. Costera showcases the warmth, character, and Mediterranean charm that define the wines of Sardinia.
Rich and inviting, this wine opens with aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, plum, and dried Mediterranean herbs, complemented by notes of sweet spice, leather, and subtle earth. Medium to full-bodied with soft tannins and balanced acidity, the palate is generous and smooth, delivering layers of dark fruit and savoury complexity through a long, warming finish.
A versatile and food-friendly red, ideal alongside grilled lamb, roasted pork, tomato-based pasta dishes, charcuterie, aged cheeses, or traditional Mediterranean cuisine. Its approachable style and distinctive regional character make it an excellent introduction to Sardinia’s most important red grape.
