Cornell & Diehl Briar Fox - 50g
Named for the personal blend of the late Danish pipe maker Peter Heeschen, Briar Fox is an exceptionally smooth mixture of Virginias and Burley pressed into an old-fashioned crumble cake. The flavor opens with a clean, hay-like sweetness and the toastiness of ripe red Virginia, building gradually into cocoa and nutty complexity as the bowl progresses, with a spicy character emerging near the finish that keeps things interesting from first light to last. The crumble cake format breaks apart easily, so you can prep it as fine or coarse as you like.
This is a straightforward, dependable daily smoker that's earned a loyal following among pipe enthusiasts, and one that many say only gets better with a little age on it. A great entry point for anyone curious about classic Virginia and Burley blends, with enough character to keep seasoned smokers coming back too.
