Connemara Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey
Connemara is produced in County Louth by Cooley Distillery, a leading force in Ireland’s modern whiskey revival. Inspired by historic Irish peat-smoking traditions, it remains the country’s most widely available peated single malt whiskey.
Malted barley is dried over peat fires before double distillation, creating distinctive smoky character without overwhelming sweetness. Careful maturation preserves the whiskey’s gentle texture, balancing soft vanilla oak with earthy coastal notes.
- Sweet barley and baked apple rise first, followed by gentle peat smoke, kippers and a touch of vanilla oak.
- Honeyed malt and soft smoke lead the palate, supported by light spice, barley water and delicate vegetal peat notes.
- The finish carries lingering sweet smoke, warming oak spice and a clean malty note with subtle coastal character.
Serve neat to appreciate its delicate peat smoke, or with a splash of water alongside smoked salmon or mature cheddar.
