Clynelish 14 Year Old is one of the great unsung heroes of the Highland single malt world — a whisky of remarkable character, complexity, and distinctiveness that has earned a fiercely devoted following among those who know it. Located in the coastal village of Brora in the far north of Scotland, Clynelish Distillery produces a spirit with a quality that is immediately recognizable: a waxy, almost coastal richness that is unlike anything else in the Scotch whisky world and has made it an indispensable component of Johnnie Walker Gold Label for decades.
Matured for 14 years in ex-bourbon casks, Clynelish 14 develops a character that is simultaneously fresh and rich, coastal and fruity — a combination that is endlessly fascinating and deeply satisfying. The nose is vibrant and distinctive — fresh citrus, green apple, and a gentle floral sweetness are underpinned by a characteristic waxy note, sea salt, and a subtle smokiness that speaks of its northern coastal home. On the palate, it's medium-bodied and beautifully textured: lemon curd, ripe stone fruit, honey, and a warming spice build with a creamy, almost oily richness that coats the palate in the most satisfying way. The finish is long, dry, and gently coastal — citrus zest, beeswax, sea salt, and a whisper of smoke fading slowly and gracefully.
A whisky that rewards curiosity and repays loyalty — Clynelish 14 is the Highland single malt that every serious whisky lover needs to discover.
