Introduction
This white wine originates from the United States, specifically from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Founded in 1990 by Harry Peterson Nedry and now under the sole ownership of Bill Stoller, Chehalem is a pioneering estate that achieved B Corp certification in 2018. The winery follows a vineyard first philosophy, focusing on sustainable practices and minimal processing to create wines that express the distinct terroir of its three estate vineyards.
Wine Description
Chehalem Pinot Gris displays a bright, pale straw colour with luminous clarity. The nose is clean and vibrant, offering an aromatic bouquet of fresh pear, white pollen, and lime peel, accented by stone fruit notes of apricot and tropical hints of honeydew melon. On the palate, the wine is juicy and bright with a light mid palate viscosity and a refreshing mineral streak that provides a distinct, 'crunchy' texture. It is characterized by its impeccable balance between ripe fruit character and crisp, energetic acidity, leading to a long and balanced finish with a clear mineral quality. This 100% Pinot Gris is fermented in stainless steel to preserve its aromatic profile and typically has an ABV of 12.5% to 12.9%. While the winery is B Corp certified and follows sustainable LIVE and Salmon Safe standards, this specific wine is not certified organic. The optimal drinking window is from now through 2030.
