Checkmate Fool's Mate Chardonnay 2020 is a sophisticated, highly complex Canadian white wine crafted from a master blend of five distinct estate vineyards across the southern Okanagan Valley. Fermented with wild yeast and aged in a combination of French oak barriques, foudres, and concrete eggs, it opens with an inviting bouquet of apple crumble, cloves, baked apricots, lemon pie, and subtle notes of shredded coconut. The palate is full-bodied and creamy, delivering a rich core of ripe pear, nectarine, and lemon curd balanced by crisp acidity and a stony, mineral-driven finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with pan-seared halibut in lemon butter, roasted chicken, Dungeness crab, lobster bisque, and creamy mushroom risotto.
92 Points - James Suckling
