Château d'Esclans Rock Angel Rosé originates from France, within the Provence region and the Côtes de Provence appellation. The estate, located in the heart of the department of Var, was acquired in 2006 by Sacha Lichine, who set out to create a world class rosé brand. The winery's philosophy revolves around the concept of 'The Renaissance of Rosé', utilizing advanced techniques such as temperature-controlled fermentation and large oak barrel ageing to produce a wine that bridges the gap between a refreshing aperitif and a complex, food friendly white wine.
Wine Description
This rosé presents a pale pink colour with a medium body and a rich, creamy texture. The sensory profile is elegant and complex, featuring an aromatic nose of red berries, strawberries, and raspberries, accompanied by floral notes and subtle hints of citrus and green apple. On the palate, it is fresh and well balanced, delivering vibrant fruit flavours integrated with a fine mineral tension and a touch of spice. The finish is long and persistent, characterized by a refined silky mouthfeel and a clean, stony exit.
Varietal Composition: Primarily Grenache and Rolle (Vermentino), with a portion of Cinsault.
Stylistic Notes: The wine is partially fermented in large French oak barrels (demi-muids) to provide additional depth, roundness, and structure without overwhelming the delicate fruit.
ABV: Approximately 13.5%.
Organic Status: While the estate practices precision viticulture and sustainable management, this specific bottling is not typically certified organic.
Food Pairing
The structured and complex nature of Rock Angel makes it a highly versatile partner for a wide range of Mediterranean and international cuisines.
Seafood: Pairs excellently with grilled sea bass, lobster, seared scallops, and classic bouillabaisse.
Meats: Complements roasted poultry, such as lemon herb chicken, and lean veal dishes.
Savoury and Rich: Suggested pairings include truffle-infused pasta, mushroom risotto, or a sophisticated Niçoise salad.
Cuisines: Matches well with mildly spicy Asian dishes, such as sushi or Thai curry, which highlight the wine's fruit and acidity.
