1. Introduction
This red wine is from France, specifically the Bordeaux region and the Saint Émilion Grand Cru appellation in the Libournais subregion. Château Boutisse has a history dating back to the 18th century, with its vineyards situated on the limestone plateau of Saint Christophe des Bardes. The estate is currently owned and managed by the Maret family, who are dedicated to sustainable viticulture and preserving the vineyard's rich natural environment. Their philosophy focuses on producing wines that express the unique qualities of the Saint Émilion terroir with elegance and finesse.
2. Wine Description The wine displays a deep, intense ruby red colour. On the nose, it is complex and expressive, offering ripe fruit aromas of black cherry and plum, complemented by notes of cedar, leather, and sweet spice from oak ageing. The palate is full-bodied and well-structured, featuring concentrated dark fruit flavours supported by firm, refined tannins. It is a wine with great balance and freshness, showing a harmonious integration of fruit, oak, and acidity. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, suggesting its potential for further ageing. The varietal composition is typically dominated by Merlot (around 85%), blended with Cabernet Franc and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon.
