This structured and 'aristocratic' red wine originates from France, within the historic Margaux A.O.C. appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. Château Angludet is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, with origins dating back to the 12th century. Owned and passionately managed by the Sichel family since 1961, the property operates with the precision and dedicated care of a Cru Classé, despite holding the Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel classification. Located on a gravel plateau in the commune of Cantenac, the vineyards are rooted in deep, free-draining Garonne gravel over clay-limestone subsoils. This singular terroir, combined with maritime influences from the nearby Gironde Estuary, allows Cabernet Sauvignon and its classic Bordeaux blending partners to achieve exceptional phenolic maturity, delicate floral perfume, and velvety structural elegance.
Wine Description
The 2022 Château Angludet presents a deep, vibrant crimson-purple appearance in the glass with bright ruby shimmers at the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering a textbook expression of Margaux's signature elegance combined with the incredible solar density of the vintage. The bouquet opens with a captivating display of crushed cassis, dark plum compote, and wild blackberries, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of dried violets, cigar box, graphite, fresh mint, and subtle toasted cedar. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, refined, and precisely focused, showcasing a generous core of black stone fruits, dark chocolate, and licorice. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and a lively, mouthwatering line of natural acidity that cuts through the mid-palate extract. The mouthfeel is broad, velvety, and supple, driven by remarkably polished, fine-grained tannins that glide into an extraordinarily long, harmonious finish accented by lingering notes of black tea, sweet spice, and mineral gravel.
