We absolutely love years like 2023! A truly classic expression of our site, with concentration yet acidity and balance that is unparalleled. It is both powerful and delicate in equal measure, and incredibly tightly wound at the moment. Classic, reductive aromas of wet-stone and lemon-curd lead to unfolding pineapple and nectarine, apple blossoms, followed by salted-caramel, toasted almond, spice and honeysuckle. Once it opens up, there is a richness yet restraint on to the nose, focusing on minerality. The palate demonstrates the complexity that is hinted at on the nose, with spiced apple, lemon tart, and pineapple followed closely by hazelnut, crème brulee, sea salt, hints of crème-fraîche, and cardamom, all mixed together with “water over a mountain stream” level minerality! The finish just goes on and on showing why this is a truly outstanding example of Senchuk Vineyard!
