Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella DOC is a type of red wine produced in the Valpolicella region of Veneto, Italy. The term "Amarone" refers to a specific style of wine that is made using a unique grape-drying process.
- Grape Varieties: Amarone della Valpolicella is typically made from a blend of traditional grape varieties, including Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Molinara. These grapes are indigenous to the Valpolicella region.
- Appellation: The DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) designation ensures that the wine is produced in a specific geographical area with defined winemaking practices. In the case of Amarone della Valpolicella, this is the Valpolicella region in the Veneto.
- Production Process: What sets Amarone apart is its unique production method known as "appassimento." The harvested grapes are dried for several months, which concentrates their flavors and sugars. This process gives Amarone its rich, full-bodied character.
- Flavor Profile: Amarone della Valpolicella wines are known for their complexity, with flavors of dark fruit, dried fruit, chocolate, and sometimes a hint of spice. They often have high alcohol content and a full-bodied structure.
- Cesari Winery: Cesari is a well-known winery in the Valpolicella region, and it has been producing wines, including Amarone, for several decades. The winery's specific approach to winemaking and the characteristics of their vineyards can influence the unique profile of their Amarone della Valpolicella.
