Código 1530 Ancestral Joven Mezcal 750ml is made in Oaxaca from 100% Papalomé maguey and bottled at 43.1% ABV / 86.2 proof. Código works with artisans in the San Juan del Río region, where locally sourced agave is cooked in an earthen oven and mashed by hand with a wooden tool. Open-air fermentation takes place in hides before the spirit is distilled in clay pots, preserving an ancestral production method without mechanized crushing or automated processing.
The producer describes a clear appearance and a sweet, earthy profile led by honey and tobacco, with clay and hazelnut on the aroma and smoke through the finish. The exact barcode-bearing commerce variant identifies this 750ml bottle as Código 1530 Ancestral Mezcal Joven, and the product-bound image shows the complete current bottle with “Ancestral,” “Joven,” 43.1% alcohol by volume, and 750ml printed on the label. Enjoy it neat to focus on the character created by Papalomé agave, hide fermentation, and clay-pot distillation.
