Zesty, smooth, and a touch subversive, the 2024 Cassiday Blare White Blend honors George Cassiday—the bootlegger who supplied Congress during Prohibition and later exposed the hypocrisy in a front-page Washington Post series. Like Cassiday, this wine doesn’t shout; it stirs the pot with charm. A bright blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay from Lodi, it opens with lemon blossom and white grapefruit, then layers in lime zest and lemongrass for a clean, citrusy finish. Crisp but never sharp, with just enough roundness to keep it easygoing, this is a white made for midweek mischief, kitchen conspiracies, and anyone who believes a little rule-bending is worth toasting.
