A mature and elegant Brunello with aromas of cherry, cinnamon, thyme, dried flowers, pencil shavings, and earthy nuances. The palate is full-bodied with refined tannins and vibrant acidity, revealing layers of red cherry, leather, tobacco, and savory herbs. The texture is silky and harmonious, leading to a long, persistent finish with remarkable depth and classic Montalcino character.
Food Pairing: Pairs best with braised beef, wild boar ragù, roasted lamb, truffle dishes, and aged cheeses.
86 Points - James Suckling
A wine with a little too much new wood for me but some pretty fruit underneath. Medium body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. A little lean. Perhaps better in 2015?
86 Points - Wine Enthusiast
A densely concentrated but unbalanced wine, it opens with aromas of stewed prunes, plum, oak, coconut and espresso. The heavy wood influence carries over to the palate. Black cherry notes are overwhelmed by oak, vanilla extract and coffee bean. Drying wood tannins dominate the finish.
