Our Calchas 2022 Syrah is a testament to Washington's Columbia Valley's resilient and adaptable nature. The 2022 growing season presented its fair share of challenges, with a Labor Day heatwave dividing the season into earlier and later picks. However, the vintners' meticulous care and attention to detail allowed the vines to flourish and produce high-quality fruit, albeit with lower yields. This wine showcases the effects of a warm summer and the impact of the heatwave on the ripening process. The season's warmth has contributed to the wine's rich, dark fruit notes. At the same time, the cooler periods preserved its acidity and freshness, giving it an overall well-balanced structure and intense flavor profile. Calchas 2022 Syrah is a perfect example of how challenging growing seasons can result in exceptional wines showcasing the best Columbia Valley offers.
