Cafe Du Monde Coffee & Chicory is a ready-to-brew ground coffee blend that recreates the signature New Orleans café flavor in a 15-ounce can.
Roasted and blended for the famous Café Du Monde experience, this 15-ounce ground coffee mixes Arabica roast with roasted chicory root for a fuller-bodied cup that pairs famously with beignets. It’s the same blend served at the Original French Market Coffee Stand in New Orleans, a landmark known for its round-the-clock service and classic café au lait. Packaged for home brewing, this product is prepared for drip coffee makers and percolators so you can enjoy that Southern café taste without leaving home.
What makes this Cafe Du Monde blend different from regular ground coffee?
The distinctive element is roasted chicory added to the coffee, which deepens the body and adds toasty, slightly nutty notes without increasing bitterness. The blend emphasizes a bold, smooth cup that historically complemented the sugar-dusted beignets of the French Market.
- Contains coffee blended with roasted chicory for fuller mouthfeel
- Ground for drip coffee makers and percolators—ready to brew
- Replicates the same blend served at the Original French Market stand
How should I brew Cafe Du Monde ground coffee for best flavor?
Use a standard drip coffee maker or a percolator and follow typical coffee-to-water ratios, adjusting slightly for strength since chicory can make the cup feel richer. For a classic experience, combine with hot milk for a café au lait-style drink.
- Start with 1 to 2 tablespoons per 6 ounces of water, adjust to taste
- Use a drip brewer or percolator for even extraction
- For café au lait, replace half the brewed coffee with steamed milk
Does this product reflect authentic New Orleans café tradition?
Yes—the blend is the same carried at the historic French Market location and crafted to mirror the flavor people associate with the Café Du Monde experience. Its profile was developed to complement the region’s classic pastries and social coffee rituals.
- Marketed as the official coffee and chicory served at the French Market stand
- Offers a taste profile intended for pairing with beignets and sweet pastries
- Available year-round for home enjoyment of a landmark tradition
How should I store the 15-ounce can to preserve freshness?
Keep the sealed can in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, transfer grounds to an airtight container and use within a few weeks for best flavor; avoid refrigeration to prevent moisture exposure.
- Store unopened can in a pantry or cupboard
- After opening, move grounds to an airtight container
- Use within two to four weeks for optimal aroma and taste
