Bulleit just boldly rewrote its entire Kentucky bourbon playbook. By aggressively removing rye from their signature recipe, the blending team bravely embraced a heavy dose of truly savory mesquite-smoked malt. This changes the landscape entirely. It’s a six-year-old limited release that flawlessly captures the primal, magnetic draw of crackling backyard campfires.
Smoke acts as a brilliant, flavor-illuminating amplifier here. Instead of lazily relying on artificial flavorings, the maltsters smoked the barley over rugged mesquite wood before fermentation even began. You're tasting genuine agricultural alchemy. Maturation profoundly darkens the syrupy liquid, slowly transforming youthful grain aggression into a velvety smooth, caramelized depth.
Bottled at a robust ninety-three proof, this spirit demands unwavering respect. The accessible heat elegantly elevates those profound savory undertones rather than ruthlessly torching your palate with an overwhelming, abrasive ethanol burn. We've absolutely adored this profile. Finding a unique whiskey that flawlessly balances syrupy sweetness with intense, herbal barbecue char feels incredibly triumphant.
