Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Islay Barley Whisky 2014
From the windswept shores of Islay comes a single malt whisky that captures the island’s true spirit, rich in provenance, character, and craft. Distilled using barley grown exclusively on Islay by eight local farming partners, this expression offers more than just a deep, smoky flavour. It offers a taste of place.
Aged to perfection since 2014, this is a peated malt that balances coastal complexity with ripe fruit and fine oak, reflecting both tradition and terroir in every sip.
- Nose reveals smouldering peat layered with malty biscuits, creme brulee, and vanilla.
- Hints of ripe melon, lemon zest, red apple, and peach rise through soft honey and toffee.
- Peat smoke integrates with nutmeg, cinnamon, and subtle wood spice.
- On the palate, Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Islay Barley Whisky 2014 unfolds citrus zest, apricot, charred heather, toasted oak, coconut, and a light maritime minerality.
- A touch of marzipan, ripe stone fruits, and smoky embers offer complexity and depth.
- The finish is long and balanced, leaving toasted oak sweetness, soft dry spice, and a lingering barbecue smoke.
This is an ideal pairing for rich meats, especially chargrilled lamb, smoked brisket, or barbecued ribs. It also pairs well with hard cheeses or smoked nuts, which bring out the layered sweetness and earthy tones in the whisky. Perfect for those who value traceability, craftsmanship, and a bold Islay statement in every glass.
